Himaruya gave Human names to some of the nations based on reader's question on "If the characters actually received a name, what would it be?", and America received the name Alfred F. Jones. Due to the name is entirely speculative and only a what-if, the name itself is never used in the manga.
However the name was used once in the "Rainy Day" manga chapter in Kitayume, where America was called "Alfred", shown on the TV screen
In pixiv, this name is used to look for the Hetalia character of America instead of the country name.
In pixiv, to tag your illustration as Alfred F.Jones, a dot is needed after the "F". However, there are people who use "Alfred F Jones", which is without a dot. While this isn't much of an issue, please take note that using the (un)official naming will make your illustrations easier for others to search.
P/S : In pixiv.net, tagging any Hetalia characters may require an underscore as the tag system will not recognize spaces. The issue is however rectified in pixiv.com, although still currently incomplete.
On the other hand, using "アルフレッド・F・ジョーンズ" to tag any Hetalia-America related illustrations is recommended due to the Japanese dot mark (・), making all words in one, and also easier for people to search for your submitted work as well.
Aside from his unofficial name, his other nickname includes "Merica", "Al", "Metabo" and so on.
According to the diary written by the author on March 25, 2011, The "F" in his name is officially confirmed as Foster. This revelation solved many fans question surrounding the letter itself, which they used to spectulate them as Franklin (possibly a reference to the president Franklin D.Roosevelt), or F--- (yes, that cuss word).

Alfred is a blonde hair guy who is Anglo Saxon and wears specs. The strange crescent-shaped lock of hair on his head represents Nantucket, while his glasses are Texas, which he started wearing after the independence - he can still see things clearly even without the help of specs.
He is bright, powerful, and has a strong sense of justice. But even so, his loud, energetic attitude who occasionally intrudes upon other people's business makes people think that he is a person who doesn't read the mood of a situation, hence his friends are mainly England and Japan. He also has the habit to force things upon people.
Interestingly, while his friend, Tony is an alien who is currently living with him, considering he has a strange phobia of ghosts, he can't see unicorns nor fairies, which England can actually see.
His hobby includes archaeology, quick shot, and watching movies. But considering England has the habit of criticizing movies, he did not actually tell him about this particular hobby.
He is obsessed with superheroes and hamburgers, and thinks nothing of eating strangely-colored candies and cakes (which disturbs Japan). Although he recently became aware of his weight, and started doing exercise and diet.
He is the youngest of the Allied Forces in human and nation age, and their self-declared leader in the WWII strips that make up the main storyline.
