George H. W. Bush was the 41st President of the United States.

George Herbert Walker Bush (June 12, 1924 – November 30, 2018) was the 41st President of the United States and was previously Vice President in the Reagan administration. Later, after his son George, who shared his latter middle name, also became president, he was referred to as "Bush Senior" in the following years.


He belonged to the Republican Party. His term as president was from January 20, 1989, to January 20, 1993. During his presidency, while achieving to end the Cold War by meeting with Soviet Secretary General Mikhail Gorbachev (Malta talks), he started the Gulf War, the forerunner of the U.S.-Iraq War.


He had served in the Pacific War, and was the youngest navy pilot at the time. In the Ogasawara Islands, his boarding aircraft was shot down by the Japanese army twice and exposed him to a life-threatening crisis.


It was reported by CNN that he had died on November 30, 2018. He died at 94 years old. At his death, the oldest living former president was Jimmy Carter.
