Overview

Pachinko (パチンコ, pachinko) a type of game. A pachinko ball is placed in a board with many nails and played by bouncing it. To prevent the ball from flying out, the surface is covered with glass.

Recently, the most common type of pachinko is a digital slot system combined with a pachinko ball.

The history of pachinko is surprisingly long. Pachinko tables first appeared in Japan around 1925, and pachinko parlors as we know them today did not appear until the 1930s. Pachinko parlors first disappeared during World War II, but were revived after the war.

It was believed to have originated in Japan, where it has many similarities with Smart Ball (a corinthian game), but it appears to have originated in Europe with the ball-playing game Wall Machine.
