Quadro

Quadro is a brand of the workstation-orientated GPUs develops and produces by Nvidia.

Summary

Unlike the GeForce which is targets toward consumers and gamers, Quadro is target toward graphics designers, therefore only seen on workstation PCs.


Unique to the Quadro GPU families are the ECC-enabled video memory and unlocked double-precision float point performance. OpenGL acceleration is greater than its GeForce counterpart.


Its rival being AMD's FirePro.


Generations

Quadro

The very first Quadro graphics card. It is based on the GeForce 256 with tweaks.


It supports DirectX 7.0 and OpenGL 1.2.


Quadro2 series

The second generation Quadro GPU family. They are based on the GeForce2 GPUs.


All models supports DirectX 7.0 and OpenGL 1.2.


Quadro DCC

The only graphics card in the 3rd-generation Quadro GPU family. It is based on the GeForce3/Ti series GPU.


This model supports DirectX 8.0 and OpenGL 1.4.


Quadro4 series

Based on the GeForce4 series, it is the 4th-generation Quadro GPU family.


All models supports OpenGL 1.4. Only Quadro 400XGL to 980XGL supports DirectX 8.0, while others only supporst DirectX 7.0.


Quadro FX series

The Quadro FX GPU family is consists of several generations as listed below:


Original

This is the 1st-generation Quadro FX GPU family, which is based on the GeForce FX GPU family.


All models up to including Quadro FX 3000G supports DirectX 9.0 and OpenGL 2.0, while higher models supports DirectX 9.0c and OpenGL 2.1.


x300 series

The 2nd-generation Quadro FX GPU family, which is based on the PCI-E version of GeForce FX series.


The Quadro FX 330 only supports up to DirectX 9.0 and OpenGL 2.0 while the Quadro FX 1300 supports up to DirectX 9.0c and OpenGL 2.1.


x400 series

The 3rd-generation Quadro FX GPU family, which is based on the GeForce 6 series.


All models supports DirectX 9.0c and OpenGL 2.1.


x500 and x600 series

The 4th and 5th-generation Quadro FX GPU family, which is based on the GeForce 7 and GeForce 8 series.


All 4th gen models and Quadro FX 560 supports up to DirectX 9.0c and OpenGL 2.1, while others supports DirectX 10.0 and OpenGL 3.3.


x700 series

The x700 series is based on the GeForce 8 series.


All models supports up to DirectX 10.0 and OpenGL 3.3.


x800 series

The x800 series is based on GeForce GPU families that are based on the Tesla architecture.


All models supports up to DirectX 10.0 and OpenGL 3.3.


Mobile only xxxM series

These are the models that were only available on workstation laptops.


All models, with the exceptions of Quadro FX 350M and FX 560M, supports up to DirectX 10.0 and OpenGL 3.3.


Quadro x000 series

The Quadro x000 series is the Quadro GPU family that is based on the Fermi architecture (except Quadro 400 which is based on Tesla).


All models supports DirectX 11.0 and OpenGL 4.3.


Quadro K series

The Quadro K series is the Quadro GPU family that is based on the Kepler architecture.


All models supports DirectX 11.0 and OpenGL 4.4.


Quadro NVS series

This GPU series is built for business graphics solutions. It consists of different architectures, from NV series to Kepler.
