Overview

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (さよなら絶望先生, Sayonara Zetsubō Sensei, lit. "Goodbye, Mr. Despair") is a manga by Kouji Kumeta serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from April 2005 to June 2012. It has a total of 301 chapters.

In 2007, it won the 31st Kodansha Manga Award for the shonen category.

In the same year, it was adapted into an anime by Shaft, and was recommended by the Jury of the 12th Japan Media Arts Festival in the Animation Division.

The story is complete, and is characterized by the inclusion of many current events and parodies.

This format was inherited from the author's previous work, Katteni Kaizou, but with more social satire.

The manga is in 30 volumes, but only one of the 301 chapters is missing from the collection for various reasons (because chapter 268 is the same story as the one about the cat-shaped robot...).

The series finally came to an end. A shocking end, which was far from a school story, left me in despair!
