Overview
Released 29 August 2003 for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan and then in America in 13 July 2004, then later ported to the Playstation 2 (in Japan only) with a small amount of extra content in 22 September 2004. Notable for being the series' first major hit in the west thanks to Nintendo's involvement in the game's localization, as well as the dearth of RPGs on international GameCubes at the time. In addition, a 12-episode OVA adaptation by ufotable was released sporadically from 2007 to 2012.
Tales of Symphonia takes place 4000 years before Tales of Phantasia. The game received a sequel, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, in 2008.
