About
The current emperor of Bronquia. His misgovernment is one cause of the common people's suffering. Whereas Gulcasa inherited Brongaa's powers through heredity, Thortie obtained Brongaa's power via a contract.
Despite being the oldest prince, he actually inherited the throne from his deceased younger brother Ike. After their father's death from illness, Ike was forced to become emperor due to his peaceable personality, and was then assassinated by the army that he had been trying to disband.
Thortie was the only heir left, but when he took the throne he earned the people's suspicion because of how Ike died, and he could not gain their trust. Because Thortie was unskilled at government and could not trust the nobles or the military, he decided to control the people through fear, and over the years he has become hated as a cruel and unfeeling emperor.
Ordinarily Thortie has an extremely relaxed personality, and becomes aggressive and haughty only during battle. He trusts only his personal bodyguard Lapis, and every now and then acts as the funny man to her straight man.
Because his body is not suited for Brongaa's power, he is weak to illness. Despite being thirty-six years old he has no heir, nor can he produce one.
He is able to sense some sort of hidden power from Garlot, and becomes increasingly curious about him.
